NINJA

From the Official Book (NTT PUB.1991)

The first prince of Eblana. Because he is only son of the king, Edge is the only person who is in the line for throne.
The king doted upon Edge, though, he likes activities and dislikes formalities. He is apt to falls into a passion, and has a sharp tongue. He is a self-confident person, and he hates to lose. His character seems to be unprecedented for a royal family, in fact, it's his persona to hide his tenderness.
Eblana people's deep-rooted trust in him may be because of his strong sense of justice and his unyielding spirit. He has the makings of a king sufficiently.

In the Story

Recent years, attack of monsters increased. Eblana's Prince Edward, alias Edge, spent days on fighting against them when he heard the news : Eblana castle has fallen by Rubicante of Fire, one of Golbeza's four fiends. The king and the queen are missing, many people lost life, and the survivers have been forced to fight against despair in the cave...
Edge did never forget grinning and hoping in the presence of the citizens, but the information was so enough to forget himself in anger. He challenges Rubicante to a confrontation alone in order to defeat the enemy of parents and the citizens, but it is beyond his ability to do that - he is defeated. He joins the party to take vengeance on his enemy.
A reencounter with "parents," and the eternal separation. He finally achieves re-round with Rubicante and accomplishes revenge, but no sooner is the revenger informed about the mastermind of Eblana's fall than he resolves to go together.
"Not just Eblana! The world is in danger!" *

* FF2us : "The world is in danger. I gotta do something!"
CHRONICLES : "We've gotta stop this guy before it's too late!"

Personal Opinion

A girl says "His Highness said he'd defeat the bad guys!" (FF2us : "The Prince will beat up those bad guys, right?") in the cave of Eblana. He is kind to the ordinary people, don't you think? He wouldn't show weak people his hardship even if he's in trouble. Speaking ill of that, he is "obstinate" ... ah, it's the truth. (^^;)
Believe it or not, I think he'll become the best king. However, nobody can predict his behavior, though he handles the government well. Moreover, his sense of justice will dislike political maneuvering, and his nature won't like formal style documents. After the war, some straightforward (or straight-from-the-shoulder) documents will surprise Cecil. Bless you, Gramps. (^^;)
After all, the confidence between him and his vassals is indicated by this conversation: "Good fortune, Your Highness!" / "Yeah, yeah."

The true reason of his joining the party is the pretty girl?(^^) I didn't write about her in "In the Story" cuz I was afraid it became funny. "Lolita complex"? No, no! Eblana people are baby face! So Edge didn't think she's about 10 years younger than him! *emphasizing*
Generally, when Japanese see a teenager of Westerner, they can't believe his/her age.
(My image of Eblana is "strange NIPPON in old Hollywood movies." *laugh*)
