The Lunarians
- NATIVE PLACE : A PLANET BETWEEN MARS AND JUPITAR
In the Story
Three "Lunarians" appear in FINAL FANTASY IV. They are FoSoYa, KluYa, and Zems.
First of all, they lived on the fifth planet which was between Mars and Jupiter. At a certain time, the planet ruined and a few people escaped safely by a ship to sail the space. Although the ship led them to "the Blue Planet," the lives there had not evolved as enough as they yet, so they made another moon by the side of the Blue Planet and slept in it.
Until the lives on the Blue Planet fully evolves.
Thus they became "the Lunarians," however, some of them were dissatisfied with the determination. The Lunarians have high civilization and mighty magic power. It was not impossible to make the environment suitable for living, after burning down the Blue Planet.
He made a mechanical giant which had enough power to burn down the ground, and asserted his opinion. But it was not granted, and he was sealed as a heretic into the moon core. The giant was also sealed in the "Dimension Elevator" so that his power might not reach.
And there was one more "heretic" who had the opinion completely contrary to that.
He yearned after the Blue Planet, and came down to there by "Madousen (the Big Whale/Lunar Whale)" which he himself built. And he gave his civilization to the people on the Blue Planet. The way to run in heaven, the way to transfer to a distant place .... While he did so, two sons were born of him and a terrestial.
Now he is waiting for the fatal time when he will grieve, mere calmly.
The Lunarians' sleep keeper receives the youths as the one who knows truth and tells it.
He tells the beginning of this war, and the way to end it.
He saves the man fated to be controlled, and helps the man fated to defeat the fate.
Personal Opinion
I wonder what are the best spellings of the miracle mirror's name and the monitor mop's.
In "FF2"US they're KluYa and FoSoYa. In the booklet of the PlayStation ver in Japan, mop's name is spelled Foo-Soo-Ya. And we Japanese pronounce their name Kuruuya and Fuusuuya. ("R" and "L" sound same in Japanese)
If you can read Japanese, you'll find a big mystery in "Settei-siryou-hen (the Volume on Setting Data)," one of the official books.
You know KluYa conveyed the technology of the Devil Road (Serpent Road) and the airship to the people on the Blue Planet, though, according to the book, the Devil Road was made by Mysidian wizards 150 yeas ago, and the airship was deveroped by Cid based on the anciant super technology in the Baronian Legend. It says that Cid deciphered an ancient inscription and learnd it, too. Then, when were Golbeza and Cecil born?
This is just my thinking, the Lunarians may have very long lives.
If the time when Lunarian scientists have (that is, their lives) were not long, the Lunarians' civilization level wouldn't develop so high, cause it's inefficient to hand the research over to the successor to continue it.
KluYa came down to the Blue Planet in ancient days (since the ancient inscription had to be deciphered) , and after traveling every place, he settled in the neighborhood of present Mysidia. Then, while he taught his technology he got married and the children were born. When the eldest son was 12 years old the family was broken up, and KluYa died or was killed. The children are in "present" beyond the time.
My setting about the spacy family is like this.
I think of a piano music "MIRRORS" as a KluYa's theme not just because of its title. It's a serene and bittersweet melody, and it's recorded on Mr. Nobuo Uematsu's solo album "PHANTASMAGORIA" (PSCN-5010 / NTT PUB. & POLYSTAR / 3000yen).
